EDITOR'S NOTE
Dear devotees and friends,
The following is news about the events in the community, gathered around the New Jaladuta Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Temple in Zagreb, for the month of September.
Since the Zagreb temple now has a new secretary, bhn. Irena, she thus takes over the editorial board of the newsletter.
From now on, you can send your texts and photos, which you consider worth publishing, to the email address tajnik.zagreb@iskcon.hr .
ISKCON has launched the ‘Live to Give’ initiative internationally, which aims to distribute 2 million Bhagavad-gitas by January 7, 2021. So we, in front of the New Jaladuta temple, undertook to distribute all the Bhagavad-gitas, 957 of them, as many as we currently have in stock.
You are all invited to join the action by sharing as many Bhagavad-gitas as possible yourself or helping our distributors.
All information can be found at the link: http://zagreb.iskcon.hr/
This month has proven to be very successful in terms of sankirtana. Apart from the temple devotees (Lomancita das, Markandeya das, Adhata das, bh. Gauranga and bh. Matko), Nayanananda das, Vaikuntha-murti das, bhn. Irena, Vedanta-krt das and bhn. Jovana. All of them, by joint efforts, distributed great 988 books!
Temple devotees distributed some of these books in Rijeka, where they spent a week.
The first part of the seminar (bhakti-sastri) from the Nectar of Devotion (Srila Prabhupada's book) was held in the temple between September 4 and 13. The leader-lecturer was Mahajvala das.
The response from attendees was thrilling!
It is worth mentioning that the participants of the seminar, led by Mahajvala dasa, also did "field classes" on Ban J. J. Square, singing and dancing, and handing out books to passers-by.
The second part of the seminar is planned for November.
A session of the Local Vaishnava Council was held, this time in the apartment of Ayodhya-deva dasa and mataji Kalakanti devi dasi, the beautiful temple of Sri Sri Radha Krsna. At that meeting, a new president of the International Krishna Consciousness Society in Zagreb was elected: Ayodhya-deva das. We wish him the successful managing of this demanding and responsible duty.
As part of the world festival / initiative, 'Holy Name Week', a four-hour Nama-yajna was held in the temple. His Holiness Candramauli Swami honored us with his company and enthusiastic kirtan. Despite growing concerns from citizens about the epidemic, more than 30 devotees and guests responded.
Parents and their children, attendees of the Gopal-guru school, spent the whole day at Bundek (Zagreb lake) where they celebrated Krsna with bhajans, a guitar, abundant prasadam and feeding souls in feathered flying bodies.
A parent meeting was also held at which guidelines were given for continuing the Gopal-guru school in these challenging times.
Traditionally, one Sunday festival in the temple moves to the Czech Home. The lecture was held in Šubićeva by Nitai-paramananda das, and the great feast was prepared, as always, by the always devoted, Gaura-mitra das.
After months of struggling with a variety of challenges, solar panels have finally been installed on the roof of the temple. The panels will allow great savings to the financial department of the temple, and also, since there will not be so much heating, which, especially in winter, took a lot of time and energy, will allow the brahmacaris to engage more in preaching activities.
However, it remains to connect the entire installation to the water tank, which, given the availability of qualified craftsmen, we expect could be done in a few weeks.
Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors without whom this great task would not have been possible.
If you were coming to the temple, you may have noticed a new, gray container in the parking lot that serves to separate plastic and metal. Waste has been separated so far, but due to the increased volume of waste for recycling, such convenience was necessary.
Bhn. Jovana and Vedanta-krt das continued the tradition of making jam in the Zagreb temple, so their valuable hands produced a large number of jars of plum jam for the pleasure of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai.
Adhata das, bh. Gauranga and bh. Matko for cleaning a huge amount of plum jam.
Bhn. Jovana, Vedanta-krt das and Daya-sindhu das for making jam.
Bhn. Larissa for thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed pots.
Vedanta-krt das and bhn. Jovana for all the services in the kitchen, at the altar, assisting in the pujari department and all this all day long so that the temple devotees could travel and distribute books without worries. Vedanta-krt thus tried to break the record with his efforts, previously set by Suvarna-bindu dasa. Vedanta did puja, clothed the deities, offered Prabhupad-arati in the temple room, after which he would go to cook breakfast, and if there was anyone in the temple room, he would surely give another lesson :)
Kala das and bhn. Sandra on donations for the temple.
Bh. Neno for regularly bringing milk to the deities.
Markandeya-rsi das for removing all radiators and washing them thoroughly and putting them back in place.
