Dear devotees, friends and well-wishers of ISKCON Zagreb Nova Jaladuta temple,
we bring you some of the significant events that marked the last two months - October and November.
Your servants from Nova Jaladuta
Our Mrgendra das has been living in the temple as a brahmacari for two years, and now he has formally accepted the saffron color of his clothes. Let's give him all the blessings to be an example and inspiration to all!
In the temple, we celebrated the last big Vaishnava festival this year.
Bh. Tihomir has taken over the responsibility of organizing harinama's, so we can again expect regular harinama's in Zagreb and its surroundings.
In October, 1,412 books were distributed, and in November about 2,000 (still counting).
For the first time, as exhibitors, we officially participated in the Interliber fair. We started modestly, handing out books just from the book table. On the first day, only 14 books went away. We were comforted by the fact that of these there were 5 large books (Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam) that are usually more difficult to distribute "on the street". Besides, it's only the first day of the fair. Thanks to the growing number of visitors and the inclusion of classic (1 on 1) book distribution outside the stand, daily results grew day by day. So we started marking higher figures such as 73, 132, 292 and a record 429 books on the final day of the fair. Books were no longer distributed 1 on 1, but 1 on 2, 1 on 3, on 5, and even 1 on 7. Our sankirtan devotees stopped groups of people and offered them all books together. The event proved to be a very good opportunity for sankirtana that will affect not only Zagreb, but also the entire region. The fair was visited by thousands of people from all over Croatia and its surroundings (Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia), especially high school and university students.
On this occasion, we would like to thank all the devotees who participated in the preparation of the stand, book distribution, donating for the costs of applying to the fair and all other "small" services that ultimately, this month, resulted in a significant increase in book distribution. Over 30 devotees were involved in the service. Thus, through joint efforts during the Interliber marathon, we distributed 1,336 books and over 3,400 cookies-prasadam!
Elated by the extremely successful Interliber, we embarked on a new venture to present Kṛṣṇa consciousness to the general public, this time at the popular, in the circle of alternatives, the fair 'Mystic', which was also held at the Zagreb Fair. This time we did not distribute so many books, which was to be expected, since this Fair lasts shorter and usually brings together a smaller number of people. However, we have recognized our presence there as valuable, since this event brings together a significant number of those who are already in favor of simple living and high thinking. So we made a lot of contacts with interested people, and we distributed about 150 books (from the book table and from the sankirtan devotees).
